Abstract

Theoretical and experimental investigation of the influence of the snow cover on the surfaces of reflector, in particular, parabolic reflector antennas on parameters of these antennas is performed. In the physical-Optics approximation, design relationships allowing one to estimate degradation of the antenna parameters were derived. It was experimentally confirmed that, depending on the dimensions and shape of the snow layer on the surface of a parabolic reflector, it may lower the antenna gain by 4–14 dB, increase sidelobes of the antenna pattern by 10–15 dB, and narrow down the main lobe width almost by a factor of two.
