Abstract
This short communication reports the preliminary findings of a study of the influence of the patient and type of articulation on the loss of substance from posterior composites. The results obtained are consistent with the view that loss of substance from posterior composites may be relatively small if restorations of these materials are free of contact areas with opposing teeth. Loss of substance from posterior composites may initially be greater in patients with group articulation rather than cuspid guidance.
