Abstract

The40Ca(n, γ) reaction is investigated on the basis of the direct-semi-direct model, by analysing the effective-charge complex renormalization produced by the giant dipole resonance excitation. The influence of the nucleon-nucleon interaction range on the renormalization process permits estimation of the reliability of the usual zero-range approximation as regards cross-sections and γ-ray angular distribution anisotropy forE1 radiative capture. Under the hypothesis of two-body forces with range equal toħ/mπc, model predictions show satisfactory agreement with experimental data when a real volume form describes the radial dependence of the particle-vibration coupling.
