Abstract

An analysis was made of the vertical distribution profile of137Cs in azonal terrain of small river valleys and gorges with a predominance of accumulative denudation processes in the redistribution of the soil mass (the valley of the River Lokna, the Plava area of the Tula region). The established correlation between the inventory of137Cs and its depth penetration into the soil confirms the proposition that the former is incremented by soil particles containing absorbed137Cs being washed in. A negative correlation was revealed between the exposure dose rates and the inventory of137Cs.
