Abstract

Nozzles, which are widely used in turbojet engines, can determine the state of the final discharged air flow with their shapes and structures. Research on nozzles has a long tradition and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have played an important role in it. The influence of the inlet Mach number and size of its throat on the symmetrical nozzle flow are studied by getting streamlines’ data. To that end, the small disturbance equation (SDE) method is used with the full potential equation and the wave equation for subsonic and supersonic flows, respectively. The SDE method has a great ability to converge. Subsonic and supersonic cases have different trends passing through the nozzle. Flow’s horizontal velocity can be adjusted by changing nozzle’s shapes and sizes. This paper provides a reference for nozzle parameters’ selection.
