Abstract

Simulations are undertaken using the angle variable technique (AVT) to study changes of the polarimetry state of an electromagnetic wave passing through a thermonuclear plasma in the poloidal plane. The first section analyses the changes in polarization state depending on the angle at which a test beam is sent for a set of fixed plasma parameters Subsequently, for a given geometry, numerical calculations are used to verify the influence of changes in various parameters of plasma (plasma density, current density, the safety factor profile) on the state of polarization of the test beam. All numerical calculations were being performed for ITER relevant plasma parameters. It should be emphasized that due to the different geometries in the present work both Faraday and Cotton-Mouton effect are taken into account.
