Abstract

Earlier work, showing that immunity following vaccination with a single dose of (plain glycerinised) cattle plague vaccine persists in most cattle for about a year, is confirmed. The immunity, if artificially tested, is no more likely to be broken down by a large dose of virus than by a small dose. Arising out of the two foregoing conclusions, it follows that cattle destined for use as cattle plague serum producers may be hyperimmunised several months after simple vaccination without fear of incurring more than minimal casualties.
