Abstract

The stochastic temperature field corresponding to temperature processes at the contact areas of rough surfaces in friction with lubricant is described in mathematical form. A relation is established between the stochastic temperature field and the frictional properties of the surfaces (the frictional coefficient). Practical recommendations are made for specific frictional pairs.
