Abstract

The behavior of mercury and its compounds in the flue gas of a mixed combustion of coal and secondary fuel is investigated. In an experimental entrained-flow reactor for combustion of pulverized fuels, fly ash and gaseous samples were taken and analyzed for their mercury concentrations. In laboratory tests the mechanisms observed in the reactor were studied in detailed investigations with the purpose of confirming and partly quantifying the influence of temperature and HCl concentration on mercury speciation in the presence of CaO particles.
