Abstract

Natural fibers have gain a lot of consciousness as potential alternative for the substitution of man-made fibers, as reinforcement of a range of resins for highly developed application as they are having little density, renewable, sustainable, and eco-friendly. Throughout processing, natural fibers are not having any harmful effects and are not coarse to the dispensation apparatus. In this paper hybrid composite by using jute fibre and sisal fibre reinforced with epoxy resin has been prepared and their mechanical properties and dc conductivity have been measured. Measurements have been conducted on the hybrid composites by using Electrometer. It is observed that the hybrid composite having unidirectional orientation of jute fibre and sisal fibre gives better mechanical properties. It was observed that the surface treatment of fibres eliminates some quantity of lignin, wax and oils on both sides of the cell wall of the fibres and the alteration of certain amount of alpha to beta cellulose. Due to these changes there is an improvement in tensile strength of the composites and increase in conductivity was also observed.
