Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of varying levels of dietary manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn) on broiler production. Corn-soybean meal type feeds were supplemented with either 0:0, 60:50, 120:100, or 180:150 ppm inorganic Mn:Zn and fed throughout 49 days of production. At 49 days of age, all birds wee subjected to pre-slaughter handling typical of industry practice, processed on automated equipment, and manually deboned on stationary cones. Measurements assessed live performance, carcass quality, and skeletal integrity. Supplemental levels of Mn:Zn did not influence either broiler performance or carcass quality. Skeletal integrity was similarly unaffected.
