Abstract
1. The main products of sulfuric acid alkylation under conditions close to optimum are o-cymene (45–47%) and p-cymene (35–37%). The m-cymene content does not exceed 18–20%. 2. It is not possible to achieve predominant preparation of one of the isomers by changing the studied parameters of sulfuric acid alkylation of toluene with propylene. 3. Use of promoters based on halides cannot lead to predominant obtaining of one isomer or another, although there is a real possibility of enriching mixtures with o- or p-cymene.
