Abstract

A novel fabrication route of nebulizer assisted chemical vapor deposition method for the fabrication of nontoxic, earth abundant CZTS absorber thin film for solar photovoltaic application is demonstrated by growing it on a pre cleaned SLG glass substrate and studying the effect of substrate temperature variation in the range of 300°C to 350°C on the structural, morphological and optical properties. A phase pure CZTS layer free from secondary and tertiary impurities without high temperature annealing was obtained. The thickness and crystallite size of the sprayed film increases with temperature while the dislocation density, microstrain and band gap decreases. The refractive index as well as extinction coefficient is also determined which recommends the usage of the prepared film as an absorber layer for thin film photovoltaics.
