Abstract

Results of theoretical investigations on the interaction of electron beams and clusters of longitudinal HF fields in a plasma are presented. A general expression to describe the energy exchange in this interaction is derived. This expression takes into account the static fields due to a plasma inhomogeneity and external forces. The problem is considered by two examples: electron beams - clusters of Langmuir oscillations interaction near electrodes and electron beam - Langmuir soliton interaction. The stationary Langmuir soliton may be pumped by the electron beam due to the presence of the electrostatic field in the cavern. The sign of the interaction depends on the space profile of the HF field.
