Abstract

The ability of star mounts to minimize angular displacements of guyed towers has been investigated. Deflections and rotations of an example tower with and without a star mount (under a static wind pressure) have been determined. A new model of the star mount, used with the equivalent beam-column approach analysis of guyed towers, has been introduced. Its efficiency has been illustrated by comparing its results to those of the more accurate space truss idealization.
