Abstract
The effect of the spin–phonon coupling on the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic model on a square lattice is investigated by a unitary transformation approach within the framework of the modified spin wave theory. The spin–spin correlation function at both zero and finite temperatures is calculated. Results show that spin–phonon coupling can reduce the topological long-range order of the system.
