Abstract

Spatiotemporal instability in dispersive nonlinear media is analysed by nonlinear Schrodinger equation, and the expression of spatiotemporal instability gain in the presence of space-time focusing and Simulated Raman Scattering is obtained. The analysis show that Simulated Raman Scattering may induce the appearance of the new instability region in normal and abnormal group velocity dispersion cases. Some characteristics of the new spatiotemporal instability region have been studied.
