Abstract

Effects of gibberllic acid (GA 3), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and kinetin were studied on the thallus length growth of sporelings of Stoechospermum marginatum (C. Agardh) Kütz. (Dictyotales, Phaeophyceae), which were raised and cultured under laboratory conditions from the tetrasporophytes. IAA showed significant growth promotion over the controls at doses of 0.1 and 0.1 mg 1 −1. Kinetin was significantly effective at higher doses of 5.0 and 10.0 mg 1 −1, while GA 3 did not show any significant effect compared to the controls. These results are of applied value in raising the alga in mariculture.
