Abstract

Density data of sodium acetate trihydrate in the binary mixtures of dimethyl sulfoxide and water at different percentage compositions (i.e. 10%–75%) have been determined at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15K temperatures and atmospheric pressure. The ultrasonic speed in electrolytic solution has also been determined at 298.15K. Apparent molar volume (Vϕ), adiabatic compressibility (K) and isentropic compressibility (Kϕ) of these electrolytic solutions were calculated from the experimental density and sound velocity data. These parameters have been used to evaluate partial molar volume (Voϕ) and partial molal isentropic compressibility (Koϕ). The density data was evaluated by using Masson equation. The derived parameters have been discussed in terms of ion–ion and ion–solvent interactions.
