Abstract

Objective To explore the influence of social support on perceived self-efficacy and coping style in patients with ovarian cancer, so as to provide the evidence for developing biotherapy, perceived self-efficacy and quality of life. Methods 108 ovarian cancer patients were recruited in our hospital department of cancer biotherapy. Measures included strategies used by people to promote health(SUPPH)and simplified coping style questionnaire(SCSQ). Results Compared with the lower social support group,the higher social support group scored significantly higher in perceived self-efficacy and positive coping,but lower in negative coping(P<0.05).The social support scale showed significantly positive association with the perceived self-efficacy and positive coping,but negative association with the negative coping(P<0.05). Conclusions The degree of social support has an important impact on perceived self-efficacy and coping style in patients with ovarian cancer.
