Abstract

Investigation results for mixtures of polyamide 6 (Tarnamid T-27) with polypropylene (Malen P J 400) have been presented. Mixtures with content of 30, 50, and 70% of polyamide in relation to the polypropylene with compatibilization agent (Polibond 3150) in a quantity of 2% have been produced. Vicat softening temperature, heat deflection temperature (HDT) under load, melt flow index and absorptivity of water have been researched as well as mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, Young's modulus, hardness and impact strength according to Charpy have been tested. Investigations of crystallization degree by means of X-ray radiographic method as well as investigations of the structure using scanning microscope have been conducted. Investigations have been conducted for the mixtures before as well as after soaking. It has been found that increase in content of polyamide in the mixture usually results in an increase in researched properties of PA/PP mixtures. Heat treatment, i.e. soaking, causes an increase in the Vicat softening temperature, heat deflection temperature under load, melt flow index and has a significant influence on mechanical properties of the mixture. These properties mostly increase, with the exception of those for impact strength.
