Abstract

ABSTRACTGlass series with general formula 30Li2O-(70-x) [1/7SiO2:6/7B2O3]-xSm2O3 was prepared by conventional melt quench technique. Impedance spectroscopy measurement were carried out by Impedance Analyzer in the frequency range 2 mHz to 20 MHz in the temperature range 423 K to 673 K. It has been observed that addition of samarium oxide in borosilicate glasses affects the density, molar volume and glass transition temperature. It is also observed that the electrical conductivity of glasses decreases with the addition of Sm2O3. Scaling by using AC conductivity shows good overlap of data on single master curve interprets that conduction mechanism is independent of temperature.
