Abstract

In this work, we report on the deactivation of Dy3+ ions by increase in concentration of silver nanoparticles (NPs) in a silicate glassy system. The quench in luminescence of Dy3+ ions is consistent with increase in the long and short lifetime of 4F9/2 excited state which develops as the concentration of silver NPs increases by heat-treatment duration.
