Abstract

AbstractTreatment of an acid Merrimac fine sandy loam with H2SiO3 significantly decreased the concentration and total uptake of Mn and Al in tissues of greenhouse grown tomatoes (Lycopersicum esculentum) but affected neither the uptake nor tissue concentrations of Cu or Zn. Yields of dry matter were not significantly increased by Na2CO3 treatments. Increases in yield of dry matter were more closely associated with decreased concentrations of Zn and Cu and less closely associated with decreased concentrations of Al and Mn.
