Abstract

Silicon can promote the formation of TCP phases, such as sigma, Laves and G in nickel-base superalloys due to its strong tendency of segregation during solidification. The effect of Si on workability of GH536 has been discussed in detail using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. It shows that the workability of GH536 was degraded by Si impurity. Also, minor La additions were found to be in favor of the workability.
