Abstract

Numerical methods are based on segmenting the domain of calculations. In this paper the influence of wire segmentation on the precision of calculations of approximate numerical models for analysis of grounding systems is investigated. It is well known that increasing the number of segments leads to increased precision in the calculations. However, the maximum number of segments is limited by the conditions from the thin wire approximation that is implemented by these methods. As a result convergence of the numerical technique may not always be reached. In this paper convergence of the relative error obtained by each numerical method as a function of relative segment length is parametrically investigated. &nbsp
