Abstract

There is an important problem in the low temperature physics of solid state connected with the relaxation and propagation of nonequilibrium phonons. One of the most interesting phenomena, concerning phonon propagation, is the so-called “hot spot”, that is a small part of a sample where the temperature significantly exceeds the bulk value. It appears, for instance, as a result of pulsed laser irradiation of the substance when a considerable part of absorbed energy is transformed to acoustic phonons.
