Abstract

The influence of the rotational isotope on the cross section of the reaction of Ar + with ortho or para hydrogen (or deuterium) is calculated using a multipole interaction potential. The ratio σ( J = 0)/σ( J = 1) is predicted to be close to unity at relative collision energies around 1 eV but to increase with decreasing collision energy.
