Abstract

Selfconsistent cranking HFB calculations including quadrupole pairing are performed for all those experimentally known rotational bands in the rare-earth mass region which are expected to be specifically influenced by the pair field of multipolarity 2. Parallel calculations with monopole pairing are carried out for comparison. Special attention is paid to the question of whether the nuclear deformations and their variation from band to band within one nucleus are important. The strength parameters of quadrupole pairing are investigated in a fit of bandhead energies.
