Abstract
This paper focuses on the influence of PVP concentration on physical properties of the silver nanoparticles (AgNps). AgNps were synthesized by polyol method in the presence of Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) acting as a stabilizing agent in a molar relation of AgNO 3 : PVP = 1:1, 1:1.5 and 1:2. The optical and morphological characterizations of synthesized AgNps were performed using ultra violet visible spectroscopy (Uv-vis) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization techniques. Uv-vis spectra show a right displacement in the wavelength from 413 to 418 nm in the absorption bands with relation to the increment in the PVP concentration, which is corroborated to the increase in the AgNps size. SEM analysis results are in good agreement with the Uv-vis analysis. Average particle size obtained from SEM analysis increased from 17 to 29 nm with increase in the PVP concentration.
