Abstract

This article presents a research focused on a conformal coating used for printed circuit board (PCB) protection. Conformal coatings are an integral part of electronic assemblies to increase resistance to the effects of harmful environments and to improve reliability. An experiment for insulation evaluation is described in the article. The first objective of the proposed experiment is to identify the influence of the manufacturing process setting on the insulating properties. The second objective of the paper is to assess the influence of electrical stress on the insulation properties. The acrylic coatings were aged by AC voltage. The insulation resistance was measured by SIR test. The comparison of measured data and recommendation for practice is presented at the end of the article.
