Abstract

The purpose of this work is the preparation of ammonium uranyl-tricarbonate (AUC) crystals by means of direct re-extraction-crystallization from the uranium loaded organic phase (30% TBP in kerosene) making use of ammonium carbonate. The re-extraction-crystallization tests were carried out in batches. Some physical parameters, such as the re-extractant concentration, the ratio (O/A) of the flow rate of the organic phase to that of the aqueous, the residence time, and the temperature, which directly affect the crystal properties, were studied.
