Abstract
Coals of different ranks were preswollen using THF as swelling solvent. The swelling ratio was higher for low rank coals. The preswollen coals improve the THF soluble materials after liquefaction with tetralin and other H-donor solvents. This enhancement was higher for coal with higher swelling ratio.
