Abstract

The self-assembly membranes (SAMs) were prepared on aluminum alloy at three different temperatures. The surface morphology and composition of the SAMs were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-rays (EDX) analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical properties of Al alloy with SAMs and bare Al alloy were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in a 3.5wt.% NaCl solution. The measured EIS data was simulated by an equivalent circuit. The results demonstrated that the surface of Al alloy was well covered by the self-assembly membrane with a better corrosion resistance and the corrosion current density of SAMs' sample at 80°C was 3.033×10−9A/cm2, which was lower than the bare Al alloy resistance.
