Abstract

The positioning error of optical components is one of the crucial factors affecting the beam quality for high-power semiconductor laser diode and the fiber coupling efficiency. This paper, derives the evaluation equations for the influence of collimator positioning error of single emitter laser array on light intensity distribution, and explores the effect of positioning error on the shape and position of beam spot through simulation. Moreover, the effects of positioning error on the coupling efficiency are researched by the experiment and are supported by simulations. The results show that the most influential positioning error, a 4μm displacement error in the y-axis of the fast axis collimator will decrease the coupling efficiency by 78.5%. Besides, the sensitivity analysis of each positioning error on coupling efficiency is investigated.
