e12546Background: Obesity has been linked with both increased incidence and poor outcome in hormone receptor positive breast cancer. However the effect of obesity in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) which accounts for 20% of all breast cancers remains unclear. While early research (trials E1199 in 2008, E5188 in 2005) have shown little effect of body mass index (BMI) on TNBC prognosis, later trials (SUCCESS A trial 2015) demonstrated reduced survival in TNBC patients with obesity. This conflicting evidence warranted additional studies to evaluate the effect of obesity on TNBC prognosis. Methods: We performed retrospective study from data gathered from 74 patients diagnosed with non-metastatic TNBC and treated with anthracycline, cyclophosmamide and taxane based chemotherapy between 2004 and 2010 at the University of Toledo Dana Cancer Center.
