Abstract

Objective To observe the influence of nursing management model based on information-motivation-behavioral skills on treatment compliance and quality of life of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods According to stochastic sequential synthesis equilibrium method, 104 cases of elderly patients with COPD were divided into study group with 52 cases and control group with 52 cases. The control group were given the routine nursing management, while the study group were given nursing management model based on information-motivation-behavioral skills.Time for improved or disappeared symptoms and results of 6 MWT was observed. The treatment compliance and quality of life of patients of the two groups were compared. Results Improved breathing time, improved turnaround time and disappeared time of breathing difficulties of the study group were significantly less than that of the control group (P<0.05) and 6 MWT of the former was much higher than that of the latter (P<0.05). Compliance scores of prescribed medication, behavior habits and rehabilitation training, etc.of the study group were significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Scores of quality of life in all dimensions of the two groups were significantly higher than that before intervention (P<0.05), and the scores of the study group were significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions Nursing management model based on information-motivation-behavioral skills applied to elderly patients with COPD not only can speed up the improvement of symptoms, but also improve treatment compliance and quality of life.
