Abstract

1. When methyl ethyl ketone is diluted with benzene, the rate constants of chain propagation (k2) and termination (k6) drop. All the thermodynamic parameters of these constants were obtained. 2. A “compensation effect” is observed in the reaction of chain propagation. 3. At all temperatures the experimental results on the values of k2 and k6 fit well on straight lines in the Kirkwood coordinates. 4. The electrostatic portion of the thermodynamic parameters in reactions of chain propagation and termination was estimated. The distribution of charges in the activated complexes was calculated.
