Abstract
The influence of morphine administration on the excretion of urinary corticoids by the guinea pig has been investigated. Single doses of morphine greatly impaired the increased excretion of corticoids which was induced by exposure to cold but not that produced by Pitressin administration. In animals which were treated with multiple doses of morphine, the basal corticoid excretion was considerably reduced. However there appeared to be an increased responsiveness to cold as compared to guinea pigs which received single injections of morphine. Reactivity to Pitressin administration was now greatly diminished.
