Abstract

In the paper, the phase composition, sintering behavior and microwave dielectric properties of CaMg1-xMnxSi2O6 were investigated via X-ray diffraction, SEM techniques and infrared spectra. Dense ceramic with the lowest porosity was obtained at x = 0.02 when sintered at 1300 °C. Densification had great impacts on the developments of both εr and Q × f. The variation in τf was responsible for [MgO6] octahedron distortion and the existence of a secondary phase. Furthermore, the major contributions to the intrinsic dielectric properties were calculated via infrared reflectivity spectra fitting.
