Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of mindfulness exercises on sleep quality for patients with chronic kidney disease , and to provide clinical basis for improving the sleep quality of the patients . Methods Totals of 60 patients with chronic kidney disease were selected from January 2013 to January 2014 in our hospital , and randomly divided them into the research group and the control group , with 30 cases in each . The two groups of patients were given routine nursing care , besides the research group was given mindfulness exercises on the basis of conventional nursing , including body scanning technology , walking, breathing exercise awareness and awareness to eat raisins practice , etc.Patients’ sleep quality was evaluated by PSQI scale before and after 2 months treatment and the results obtained by the statistical analysis were compared .Results Before the intervention, the scores of each factor and total score had no statistically significant difference (P〉0.05). After the intervention, the scores of sleep time, sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep efficiency, daytime function and the total score of the research group were (1.31 ±0.32),(0.78 ±0.35),(1.09 ±0.35), (1.15 ±0.31), (0.53 ±0.17) and (6.68 ±0.62), which were significantly lower than those of control group (t=3.130, 3.921, 3.843, 3.114, 2.996, 8.564, respectively;P 〈0.01).Conclusions Mindfulness exercise can remarkably improve the sleep quality of patients with chronic kidney disease .
