Abstract

Microstructure and the high temperature oxidation performance of the wire arc additive manufactured (WAAM) and wrought alloy 625 was investigated at 750⁰C. Microstructure results showed the solid solution dendrites as WAAM-built alloy and austenite structure was observed on the wrought alloy. Both the alloys are followed the parabolic behavior and the WAAM-built alloy exhibited lower weight gain than wrought alloy. The oxides growth rate was controlled by the formation of protective passive Cr2O3 film, which could avoid the inward oxygen penetration. Oxide layer growth Kinetics are explored in detail based on alloy composition and microstructure.
