Abstract

The continuous and discontinuous yielding behaviors are observed in the medium Mn steels with granular and lath-typed microstructures, respectively. The continuous yielding behavior is attributed to the unique lath-typed microstructure, in which the sub-division of unit cells by laths leads to a more homogeneous distribution of GNDs and thus a higher GND density.
