Abstract

The changes in surface integrity caused by surface treatments such as grinding, vibration polishing, vibration peening and shot peening were investigated, and their influence on the fatigue property of 30CrMnSiNi2A steel was studied. It was confirmed that the surface can be modified by vibration polishing, vibration peening and shot peening and that the fatigue endurance limit for 1 × 107 cycles of the vibration peened specimens is increased by 11%, and the corresponding limit of shot peened specimens is increased by 16% compared with the virgin ground specimens.
