Abstract
We present an equation of state for a baryon-rich quark-gluon plasma with a cut-off for colour charges with low momenta to simulate the influence of massive quasi-particle excitations. The deconfinement transition is studied and compared with that in the bag model. Physical consequences of the new model for lattice QCD simulations at finite chemical potential and experiments on heavy-ion collisions are discussed.
