Abstract
In the superplastic forming of aluminum A5083 alloy, the effect of lubricants like boron nitride, graphite and the mixtures of those on the qualities of formed parts were studied. It was found that boron nitride did not cause a severe surface degradation while graphite produced a bumpy surface with some scratches. Conversely, at stress concentrated position boron nitride yielded significant thinning out while graphite did not. The thinning out was emphasized at 20kg/cm 2 forming pressure than at 8kg/cm 2 . Using mixtures of the lubricants with appropriate ratios, it was showed that desirable qualities could be obtained.
