Abstract

We have developed a theory that provides an interpretation for the temperature dependence of the g values measured by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, based on the presence of localized low-frequency anharmonic modes. The model is successfully applied to EPR data on paramagnetic nickel cyanide complexes in NaCl host lattice, for both ${\mathit{d}}_{\mathit{z}}^{2}$ and ${\mathit{d}}_{\mathit{x}}^{2}$-${\mathit{y}}^{2}$ ground states.
