Abstract

In this study, La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3- d (LSGM) and Ni-LSGM were applied as the electrolyte and cathode materials for solid oxide electrolyzer cell (SOEC), respectively. The different thicknesses of anode material, La0.5Ba0.5CoO3 (BLC5), were utilized to observed cell performances under 20% H2O-2% H2-78% N2 atmosphere at 800°C. The correlations between the faradaic efficiency of hydrogen production and anodic thickness were observed. Also, I-V curves were measured with different anodic thickness samples. According to I-V curve results, cell performances could be considered as similar regardless of thickness. However, the faradaic efficiency of hydrogen production was relatively low with the thin-thickness sample. It is indicated that insufficient reaction areas induced to lower hydrogen generation efficiency.
