Abstract

Basics of interstitial element effects in high-purity niobium for RF cavities and control tools such as thermal conductivity and DC or AC RRR measurement systems are presented. Cases of interstitial contamination during different stages of cavity production and treatment, such as machining, EB-welding and barrel polishing are briefly summarized. Post purification for getting rid of the interstitial contamination and its influence on the properties of niobium is discussed.
