Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the intercrops on the incidence of maize stem borer, Chilo partellus at Maize Research Station, S.D. Agricultural University, Khedbrahma, Gujarat. Among intercrops, maize + cotton combination registered minimum (28.32%) damage and it was statistically at par with maize + sesamum (30.94%) followed by maize + pigeonpea (31.71%) and maize + castor (31.81%). Lowest stem tunneling was found in maize intercropped with pigeonpea (4.05%) and it was statistically at par with maize intercropped with cotton (4.22%) followed by black gram (4.23%) and green gram (4.26%). Highest maize equivalent yield was recorded from the pigeonpea (22.31 q/ha), while lowest maize equivalent yield observed was from black gram (16.10 q/ha)
